Posted in: Friends, Journal Ideas, Store, TTJ News on September 1st with 1 Comment
More than a decade ago the Kappa Delta Sorority created National Women’s Friendship Day. It became so popular that two years ago the day-long celebration was stretched to fill an entire 30 days and Women’s Friendship Month was born. If you’re wondering how to celebrate this September we’ve got a great idea– why not launch a Traveling Journal? You can share it with those special friends who may not live on the same street or even across town. Let them know that you cherish their friendship, despite the distance. For the month of September use code FRIENDSHIPMONTH to get The Traveling Journal Starter Kit for just $19.99. That’s a 20% discount and a great deal on everything you need to launch your journal journey. Thank You For Your Patience
Posted in: Store, TTJ News on June 23rd with No Comments
Funny thing about the Wall Street Journal– a lot of people read it! So when our business was mentioned in Elizabeth Bernstein’s article last week our web traffic shot through the roof. And lots of those people placed orders leaving us scurrying to replenish our inventory. But the thing that makes us unique is that our journals are handmade. Real, talented people here in the great US of A design and fabricate them for us which takes time. So as you peruse our online store you may notice that ordering some items will require a little bit more patience. But we promise everything will be fulfilled as quickly as possible because we want every one to experience the joy of owning and participating in a traveling journal. If you place an order for an item on back order we promise to add a little something extra in your package just as our way of saying thank you for your patience. Image Credit

We Love Maps
Posted in: Store, Uncategorized on March 29th with No Comments
Since starting this company I totally have a thing for maps. Just check out The Jessica Journal and the Fernanda Journal if you don’t believe me! So I was incredibly excited to see the amazing artwork of Jason LaFerrera on Design Sponge today.
I especially love this gold finch print since the gold finch is the state bird of Iowa, my home state. And because I really love the color yellow right now!
Jason also designed this Japanese Crane print which sells for $50 in his Etsy store. All of the proceeds from the sale of this print will go to the Red Cross for Japanese earthquake and tsunami relief efforts. Love it! -
Get Mom Something SUPER Special this ‘Mother’s Day’
Posted in: Long Distance Relationships, Store on March 16th with No Comments
Out of the five us, I’m the only one who lives in the same town as my mom. But if my mom did live out-of-town or out-of-state, I definitely would try to do something even more special across the miles.
Why not buy mom “The Traveling Journal”? It’s a gift that will definitely:
a. keep on giving
b. not put a huge dent in your pocketbook
c. make mom cry
You could journal to mom about how you’d love to stay in touch in a more personal way. Write down all the things you remember her doing for you over the years, or perhaps just think of one time you were really proud to call her ‘mom’. Tell her you’d like to keep this new tradition going with a journal response back from her. And wha-la… The Traveling Journal between you and your mom have begun.
We have beautiful homemade Traveling Journals to pick from, but the one I would get my mom is The Edwina Journal in Berry. http://www.thetravelingjournal.com/shop/journals/the-edwina-journal-berry/
My mom and I look a lot alike and we act a lot alike. I’m very proud to call her ‘mom’. She’s a friend I can share anything with.

This is my brother Zack and I with our mom, Julie on her birthday last year. I ended up getting her a Snuggie and some lipstick from Francis Canteen. I wish I would have done better with something like 'The Traveling Journal'
So this Mother’s Day, show mom you really care by getting her The Traveling Journal.

Keep an Eye Out for TTJ Decals
Posted in: Store, TTJ News on September 3rd with 2 Comments
Even though we live in five different states, our cars are now sharing a common bond. Co-founder Morgenne has a friend who does decals for car windows. He was nice enough to create some for The Traveling Journal so we can promote our website no matter where we are. So keep an eye out for our decals! This one is on the back of a Honda Element you may see driving around the Upstate of South Carolina. Although, you’re probably more likely to see it parked outside a Starbucks.
This one belongs to co-founder Melissa. If you live in Sioux City, Iowa be sure to give her a honk if you happen to see her. Some of her family members there may also be getting Traveling Journal decals on their cars, too.
This decal belongs to co-founder Morgenne. You can usually find her driving the roads in and around Phoenix, Arizona. She’s the one who came up with the great idea of using our cars to promote the website.
And this decal is on the back of a black SUV that co-founder Tonya drives. She lives south of LA and spends a lot of time on the road so we’re pretty sure she’ll give The Traveling Journal lots of exposure. Just don’t be surprised if you also hear N’Sync or some other boy band blasting from the car speakers.
